I must admit, that following fairly underwhelming bra-fitting experiences in the past, it takes a lot to impress me. I wasn’t expecting anything different or revolutionary from Selfridges’ newly opened Body Studio, even though it is their largest ever department offering the latest in swimwear, loungewear and lingerie, fitness and wellbeing. However, the simplicity and efficiency of their specialist bra fitting service has scored very highly in my opinion.
On arrival, I was offered a refreshing glass of water in the comfortable but unassuming seating area, allowing a few moments to recover and relax after a frantic journey. I was promptly and warmly welcomed into the Fit Studio by the specialist fitting advisor, Catherine. Although, the fitting rooms were a little plain and lacking the luxurious feel, the service I received was fantastic. I cannot praise Catherine highly enough, she was extremely amenable and made me feel totally at ease.
Fit Studio - Selfridges, London
From past experience, I know I am not a straightforward customer to fit but Catherine made the whole process simple and stress-free. Before starting the dreaded fitting, she took the time to ask me what I’d like to get from the personal fitting session and explained how the fit of my current bra could be improved. Following this, a small selection of bras were carefully selected for me to try, offering a choice in style, colour and price. Encouragingly, Selfridges’ Fit Studio offers a variety of prices to suit all budgets.
I was given a choice of the go to brands for fuller busts such as, Panache and Fantasie, as well as a new fuller bust lingerie brand Adina Raey. As a lingerie lover, seeking to find the perfect bra, I am always eager to hear about and try new fuller bust brands attempting to combine exceptional fit with chic styling. It was therefore an exciting surprise to be introduced to the Adina Reay collections.
Finally, I had my eureka moment! The Fern Adina Raey Bra in black immediately stood out. Never have I tried on a bra, which instantly felt as comfortable as this. The softness of the band, the comfortable underwires and the simple yet sexy styling all come together to produce the most exquisite bra.
Adina Reay is exclusive to Selfridges and the desire to create this fuller bust brand came from their own personal frustrations when faced with a lack of choice in the market. High quality laces are combined with modern styling, demonstrating the impact of a simple elegant design. The Fran bra is simple and sexy with an interesting interplay of textures and opacity. The price is a little higher than I would normally spend, however I was completely compelled to purchase the bra – I could not be without it! Their designs really stood out to me because they achieve relevant, sexy styles without unnecessary fuss.
Finally I had found a bra that not only provided a superb fit and exceptional comfort but it also had great styling! I was so shocked and excited by this new brand that I was positively beaming. Following a successful bra-fitting with superb customer service, I left feeling totally triumphant and very well looked after.
After such a positive trip to the Body Studio, I couldn’t leave without trying the much talked about Hemsley and Hemsley café. The café felt modern and inviting, I sat at the taste bar, for a more express eating experience. The menu offered a tempting array of healthy breakfasts, snacks, mains and sweet treats. I chose to eat the quinoa with roasted vegetables and basil pesto. As expected this was delicious and created a perfect end to my uplifting and exciting trip to the Body Studio. I chose their choc chip cookie to take away for an afternoon sweet treat and although I enjoyed the opportunity to eat a guilt-free treat, I was a little underwhelmed with the taste.
